Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp

 

 

The Double Wasp is an air-cooled radial engine of 2,800 ci with 2 rows of nine cylinders.  They poweredThe Glenn L. Martin Company WWII Martin B-26B and C Marauder bombers and the PBM-5 seaplane patrol-bombers, as well as the post-war Martin 202 and 404 airliners.  They also powered the WW2 F-4U Corsair, P-47 Thunderbolt, F6F Hellcat, and P51 Black Widow.  The museum has 2 of the model-43 engines which were used in the Marauders, and built by the Ford Motor Company under license from P&W.
